Grilled Sliced Steak and Portobello Mushroom Sandwiches


  1. Steak Ingredients
  2. 1 lbs Lean Steak (Fillet Mignon, Sirloin or Flank Steak)
  3. 4 Portobello Mushrooms
  4. 4 Whole Wheat Rolls
  5. Sauce Ingredients
  6. ½ cup Fat Free Mayonnaise
  7. 3 Tbsp Prepared Horseradish
  8. ½ Tsp Lemon Juice
  9. ½ Tsp Lemon Zest grated
  10. Extra Virgin Olive Oil (the fruitier the better)
  11. Salt and Pepper to taste


  1. Sauce Directions
  2. Mix mayonnaise, horseradish, lemon, lemon zest, salt and pepper.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Steak Directions (on grill)
  5. Sprinkle the meat and mushrooms with olive oil and salt and pepper
  6. Grill until the meat until Medium Rare and the mushrooms until tender
  7. After removing from the grill, cover with foil and let rest for 5 minutes for the juice to get reabsorbed.
  8. Slice the meat thinly against the grain
  9. Toast the rolls
  10. Sandwich Assembly
  11. Place a Mushroom on the roll
  12. Place 4 oz of meat on top of the mushroom
  13. Spread 1 Tbsp of sauce on the roll and cover
